«An interactive system between dance and images»

Roza graduated from NDH in 2015, and went on to a MA degree in choreography. Her new perfomance  «Only Forever»  premieres at "October Dance" at Hordaland Art Center Saturday the 20th of October.

When was your interest in choreography awaken?

- I started dancing at the age of three by learning all the choreographies from a Video my family had. The video consisted of a three hour dance from a ceremony in the Soviet Union. Later on I taught myself choreography from different CDs , the internet and then YouTube.

«Looking back It's clear that these methods unconsciously has effected my practice, and is an important part of my practice today.»

What was your inspiration behind the project «Only Forever»?

- For this performance, I worked with the concept of «image and events». The idea of developing an interactive system between dance and images, started when I wrote a reflection text for my Masters' degree, and I continued to work on this concept in the pre-project «Imagine-Image»

- Generally, the research aims to explore questions about imagery and live events, exemplified through taking gestures/positions out of their hosting context, dynamics, and relations.

How was the transition from a bachelor's program to a Master's program?

- I'm very thankful for all the modern dance techniques I was taught at NDH. It was a good combination with my practice of learning from videos, and provided me with a historical view to dance. Starting the MA program strenghtened my knowledge around dance theory.
